Avoiding Over-Embedding the Tool

The trochoidal cutting pattern in NX automatically prevents you from exceeding permissible cutting conditions based on user-specified criteria.

The tool-path avoids the possibility of “slotting” as the tool becomes fully embedded. The trochoidal loop radii are adjusted automatically to match stock and part geometry.

Consistent Finish

The automatic addition of intermediate tool paths in Z-Level patterns, in both steep and shallow regions, leaves a constant depth of stock in semi-finishing operations, and ensures uniform cutting in finishing operations.

High-Speed Finishing

HSM finishing operations, such as the streamline cutting method, produce smooth, flowing patterns that result in fine finishes at high feed rates.

The precise control over the stepover and depth-of-cut produces a high-quality surface finish that is consistent in steep and shallow areas.

Various options for non-cutting moves enable tangential connections between adjacent cuts. For example, smooth helical cutting can be achieved even on irregular shapes.

NX CAM provides a customizable machining database that enables you to manage and apply proven data to associated tool path operations. NX then automatically applies the right HSM feeds and speeds for a given operation and tool selection.

Fine-Tuned Output

NX tool paths are fine-tuned for high-speed machine controllers. Uniformly distributed points, tangential circular records and non-uniform rational basis spline (NURBS) output options enable you to match the method to the parameters of each task.
