Electromagnetic simulation for space systems
Keep up with electromagnetic simulation technologies for space systems
A spacecraft is equipped with electrical and electronic devices allowing it to maneuver properly and carry out the missions. Malfunctioning or disruption of the equipment must be avoided. The different electronic units within a satellite must be mutually compatible, including surveillance and communication equipment. In addition, the systems must be compatible with any outside source of electromagnetics interferences, including electrostatic discharge.
During the design phase of space systems, it is crucial to apply electromagnetic simulation in order to understand and reduce risks related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Emission and susceptibility, both radiated and conducted, are key qualifiers in the context of EMC, as well as electromagnetic interferences (EMI) between the antenna systems of the satellite.
