BEIJING and PLANO, Texas -- EDS today announced a significant contract signing with Langchao Group -- China's leading PC server manufacturer and ERP software and services provider -- for product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services. Under terms of the contract, Langchao agreed to purchase several thousand licenses of EDS' industry-leading Teamcenter® PLM software solution, making it China's largest-ever PLM software implementation.
Langchao Group approached EDS -- the industry's leading supplier of PLM solutions -- with a need to improve its information architecture, operational efficiency and global reach for its products and services. After a thorough evaluation, Langchao management selected EDS' Teamcenter, the world's most widely used suite of PLM solutions, as the digital platform for its manufacturing transformation. Langchao cited Teamcenter's ability to enable efficient product development collaboration across its widely dispersed enterprise along with its flexible deployment as the critical factors in its decision.
Teamcenter supports Langchao's collaboration requirements in multiple ways -- through its information and process management collaboration functionality as well as its community collaboration and real-time project management capabilities. Teamcenter's community collaboration connects people and provides them with a broad spectrum of services and data from multiple systems and repositories while Teamcenter's project management capabilities enable enterprise teams to collaboratively plan and manage projects by synchronizing team-oriented tasks, schedules and resource allocations.
"Langchao is proud of its role as a leader in China's IT equipment, software and services market," said Sun Pi-su, president, Langchao Group. "We are confident we can expand that leadership and further strengthen Langchao's global position by constantly improving its product lifecycle process. We appreciate the flexibility of EDS' Teamcenter PLM system to work within our existing environment and we expect its collaboration capabilities to significantly improve our product development productivity and help enable our ongoing improvement."
EDS also today announced Langchao has signed on with EDS as a certified distributor, enabling the company to sell and support EDS' PLM solutions in China. Through the distribution agreement, EDS and Langchao have agreed to work together to enhance productivity and global visibility for the Chinese manufacturing industry. In conjunction with the successful PLM implementation of Teamcenter, Langchao and EDS will jointly craft a best practice PLM solution for the Chinese market. With more than 100 offices across China and 1,500 software developers, Langchao will help strengthen EDS' support and distribution channel throughout the country.
