FOR RELEASE October 2, 2003
D-Cubed, a leading supplier of software components to CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM application developers, and Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore, announce the release of D-Cubed’s 2D DCM, 3D DCM and HLM components in Intergraph’s IntelliShip product.
IntelliShip, Intergraph’s next generation ship design application, addresses shipbuilding requirements throughout the ship lifecycle. An integral part of the Marine Solution, a comprehensive suite of shipbuilding applications, IntelliShip provides a full range of flexible ship design, production, and lifecycle management capabilities within a single integrated environment. It provides shipbuilders with better decision support capabilities to facilitate global design, production, and lifecycle optimization ultimately making the shipyard more competitive.
The 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager (2D DCM) is integrated into the core geometry creation systems of IntelliShip allowing variational sketching techniques to be used in a diverse range of situations.
The 3D Dimensional Constraint Manager (3D DCM) provides the assembly constraints in the hanger support and equipment environments of IntelliShip. The 3D DCM enhances design productivity by providing a powerful and user friendly means to control the positioning and automatic repositioning of parts during the construction and modification of a ship assembly.
Also released in IntelliShip is the Hidden Line Manager (HLM), D-Cubed’s fast and accurate hidden line solution. This integration allows IntelliShip end-users to efficiently create precise engineering drawings from vast assembly models.
Bob Jones, vice president 3D Solutions, Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore, said, "The D-Cubed components provide valuable development capabilities and contribute to the advanced IntelliShip functionality while helping to control software development costs."
"Intergraph Process, Power & Offshore is dramatically improving ship design productivity through their deployment of D-Cubed’s components in IntelliShip", said John Owen, Managing Director of D-Cubed. "Our technology has been widely used in the mechanical CAD field for many years. Intergraph have had the vision required to take the most powerful design capabilities from the MCAD field and tune them to the requirements of their ship building industry. The result is an extremely compelling competitive advantage."
About D-Cubed Ltd.
Founded in 1989 in Cambridge, England, D-Cubed provides software components and technical consulting services to the CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM application development industry in all areas of geometric, solid and variational/parametric modeling. Most of the world’s leading CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM vendors have adopted one or more of D-Cubed’s widely respected component technologies for integration into their end-user applications. We have never developed, and do not intend to develop, our own end-user applications. This focus avoids any competitive conflicts of interest with our customers.
