HERZLIA, Israel - February 25, 2004 - Assembléon, a world leader in the design and manufacture of surface-mount pick-and-place equipment for the global electronics industry, and Tecnomatix Technologies Ltd. (NASDAQ: TCNO), the driving force in Manufacturing Process Management (MPM), today announced an agreement to offer a replacement to the CIMbridge software tool with eM-Assembly Expert, from Tecnomatix Unicam, for all Assembléon customers. Tecnomatix Unicam is a wholly owned subsidiary of Tecnomatix Technologies.
Under the terms of the agreement, eM-Assembly Expert – a key component of the eMPower PCB Assembly and Test solution suite from Tecnomatix Unicam – will replace the CIMbridge platform currently being used by Assembléon customers. Since acquiring the CIMbridge business unit from Genrad in October 2002, Tecnomatix has been committed to a transition plan to upgrade CIMbridge users to a more advanced, integrated programming platform. With this offering from Tecnomatix and Assembléon, the CIMbridge installed base will be provided a solution that includes the latest advances in software development, and will be assured of a seamless migration path to best-in-class assembly and test technology.
Assembléon customers will also benefit from eM-Document Expert, a subset of eM-Assembly Expert that automates the creation of method sheets and other documentation for electronic assembly operations. The eM-Assembly Expert programming front-end will interface with Assembléon optimizers and line balancers for all Assembléon machines, bringing the best of both technologies to the two companies’ customers, and enabling Assembléon customers to introduce new products to the shop floor more quickly, accurately and cost-effectively. The Assembléon optimizers will also be available in the Tecnomatix eMPower for Electronics Assembly offering. Customers will benefit from eM-Assembly Expert’s closed loop balancing, shop floor documentation, support for all CAD formats available in the market, and multi-vendor line balancing solution. Expansion of the eM-Assembly Expert platform to other MPM solutions is available directly from Tecnomatix.
"Tecnomatix Unicam and Assembléon are committed to providing a seamless connection to Assembléon SMT equipment as well as other vendor equipment that offers a significant increase in value for our mutual customers," said Israel Levy, CEO of Tecnomatix Unicam. "This commitment is an important part of our intention to offer our customers the most flexible and extensible multi-vendor machine programming capabilities available today."
eM-Assembly Expert is part of the eMPower PCB Assembly & Test suite from Tecnomatix Unicam, an end-to-end solution for collaboratively creating, optimizing and managing PCB New Product Introductions (NPI). It enables electronics manufacturers to increase productivity, reduce costs and easily transfer and share jobs between different plants. eM-Assembly Expert seamlessly integrates with other eMPower for Electronics solutions, including eMPower Execution Systems for real-time access to shop-floor information and performance monitoring, and eMPower Box Build for integration into final assembly processes.
