UGS made the announcement in conjunction with its analyst/media briefing event being held July 14-15 in New York. The briefing is the first such event UGS has held since announcing on May 27 the closing of its sale by EDS to three private equity firms and its launch of operations as an independent software company under the UGS brand.
The agreement calls for the deployment of NX digital product development solutions across multiple Raytheon programs.Raytheon is an industry leader in defense and government electronics, space, information technology, technical services and business aviation and special mission aircraft.
As a part of this agreement, UGS and its partner, Maya Heat Transfer Technologies, are developing customized advanced thermal analysis software based on the NX digital simulation solutions in use at Raytheon. The customization of the software addresses the specific needs of Raytheon to simulate and validate the structural thermal, optical, and laser performance of advanced high energy laser systems.
“The ongoing challenge in our industry to maintain high quality and overall affordability means that the technology we select is a key component of our overall business strategy,” said Allison Sheridan, engineering automation and computing manager, Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems. “NX application solutions help support our affordability goals, and UGS has worked closely with us to develop solutions that address our particular requirements.”
NX provides a comprehensive portfolio of computer aided design, manufacturing and engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE) software solutions for digital decision making founded on a next-generation architecture and technologies that uniquely address the driving business issues in product development. NX allows clients to conceive, design, engineer and validate discretely manufactured products – and capture their product definitions – in a fully digital environment.
