NEW YORK– UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that Jim Duncan, a 19-year UGS veteran and leader of the company’s Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) team, will retire within the next year. The company has named Paul Vogel to assume Duncan’s responsibilities as senior vice president and managing director for EMEA, effective July 1.
UGS made the announcement in conjunction with its annual industry analyst event in New York.
In his position, Vogel is responsible for all sales, sales support and services delivery in EMEA. He reports to Jim Milton, UGS executive vice president for Global Sales and Services.
Vogel brings nearly 20 years of experience in the software and services industry at PeopleSoft, J.D. Edwards and IBM. Most recently, Vogel was vice president of sales in Europe for Global eXchange Services, a leading worldwide provider of business-to-business integration synchronization and collaboration solutions.
“Paul has an extensive history of building motivated, high-performance teams and strategic programs that have consistently delivered increased revenues and profits at rates well above industry averages,” Milton said. “In the next stages of UGS’ growth, Paul’s broad experience in both enterprise and mid-market accounts, channel operations, enterprise applications and scaling business to address market opportunities will be extremely important to our success in EMEA.”
Duncanremains on the executive staff and will report to Tony Affuso, chairman, CEO and president of UGS. He will work on special projects for the company. “Jim is an outstanding leader and has played a major role in expanding UGS’ business in the EMEA region,” said Affuso. “Under his direction since 1993, the EMEA business practiced aninnovative approach to delivering customer solutions and has helped UGS become a leader in the PLM space. We congratulate Jim on his impending retirement and wish him all the best.”
