FOR RELEASE Thursday, August 25, 2005
PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced Chairman, CEO and President Tony Affuso has been selected by the Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC), an association of technology companies dedicated to the development of the high-tech industry in North Texas, as the 2005 Tech Titans Corporate CEO Award winner. Affuso received the award during the Tech Titans Awards Gala on Aug. 19.
The MTBC Tech Titans Awards annually honor accomplishments including community service, innovative products/technology and leadership. The Tech Titans CEO Award specifically recognizes local CEO leadership within the technology and communications industry.
“Tony Affuso’s passion for teamwork and unwavering focus on customer needs as evidenced by the company’s mantra of ‘Never Let a Customer Fail’ are why the Tech Titans judging panel selected Tony for this CEO Award,” said Skip Moore, Managing Partner Technology/Media/Telecommunications for Deloitte, co-chair of the MTBC’s Tech Titans committee. “In addition, we were impressed with his ability to lead UGS through enormous change. Not only has Tony led the company through a merger with one of its former rivals, he led the company as it was becoming independent during what was – at the time – the largest private equity investment ever made in a technology company.”
Since its independence, UGS has completed four acquisitions and has continued to receive third-party validation of its leadership position in the PLM market. The company earlier this month reportedits eighth consecutive quarter of year-over year total revenue growth.
“I am honored to have been selected for such a prestigious award,” said Affuso. “UGS truly has the finest team of people in the industry and this award is shared with the entire team because together we make UGS strong. As always, our success starts with our customers’ success.”
MTBC is the most comprehensive association for high-tech companies in North Texas, with membership consisting of technology members (80 percent of membership) and provider members (20 percent of membership). Membership is open to all technology companies in the Metroplex. The MTBC is dedicated to fostering a supportive business environment for technology companies and members of the technology community through leadership, advocacy, education and cooperative initiatives. MTBC was founded in 1994 by MCI, Nortel Networks, Fujitsu and Rockwell International. The Tech Titans awards were launched in 2001.
