FOR RELEASE Friday, May 5, 2006
PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp., a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) products and services, today announced UGS-sponsored Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing and KB Racing – whose cars are developed with the help of UGS® digital product development technology – dominated last weekend’s racing in NASCAR and NHRA Pro Stock.
Hendrick Motorsports driver Jimmie Johnson claimed his third victory of the season by winning the Aaron’s 499 at Talladega Superspeedway, with teammate Brian Vickers finishing third. Tony Stewart, the 2005 NASCAR® NEXTEL Cup Champion and a driver for Joe Gibbs Racing, finished second – completing the 1-2-3 sweep by UGS-sponsored racing teams.
The weekend’s results give Johnson the lead in NASCAR® NEXTEL Cup points after nine races. Stewart moved up two spots to third, only 71 points behind Johnson.
The O’Reilly’s NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals Pro Stock final was the ninth head-to-head, final-round match-up between KB Racing teammates Jason Line and Greg Anderson. Line set a track record top speed in qualifying (204.66 mph for a 6.727-second pass), making him the top qualifier for the second time this year. Line and Anderson qualified first and second, respectively and finished with Line getting his third win in the series against his mentor. Anderson and Line are now 1-2 in the POWERade championship chase, with Anderson leading Line by 51 points.
“UGS congratulates Hendrick Motorsports, Joe Gibbs Racing and KB Racing on a highly successful weekend of racing,” said Dave Shirk, executive vice president of Global Marketing for UGS. “It’s a proud feeling for our company and our customers when our technology contributes to winning on the track.”

KB Racing, winner of the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Pro Stock Championship for three straight years, began using UGS technology in 2005, and the Renault F1 Team, winner of the 2005 Formula One Drivers and Constructors Championships, established a partnership in 2004 using Tecnomatix™ software, UGS’ best-in-class digital manufacturing solutions.
