Multi-physics problems in mixing applications: A path via simulation

Запись вебинара

Poor mixing can result in losses in the millions of dollars/euros in the chemical and process industries.

Learn to use Siemens Simcenter STAR-CCM+ to perform effective, efficient mixing simulations in chemical and process industry applications.

CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and DEM (Discrete Element Modeling) simulation can be used to answer many of the questions associated with mixing--answers that cannot be found by analytical or experimental methods.

In this webinar, you will learn how process development engineers can benefit from using a template based app (Simcenter STAR-CCM+ Mixing Vessel Workflow, formerly known as Admixtus) to overcome the hurdles common to engineers new to simulation—setting up geometry, a reasonable mesh and adequate physics—to perform simulations and design exploration effectively and efficiently. You will also learn how the Multiphysics approach in Simcenter STAR-CCM+ can be used to address the challenges of using simulation for:

  • Coupled DEM + CFD for particle suspension in high viscosity liquids
  • Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) for impeller displacement
  • Heat Transfer and its effects on scale-up
  • Optimizing operating conditions in gas-liquid systems

Who should attend:

  • Process development engineers or managers who want to troubleshoot mixing problems or employ Quality by Design initiatives--this event will help you understand the applicability of deploying simulation to achieve these objectives
  • Chemical engineers, Process engineers, Formulation technology engineers who are already using CFD in engineering work flow - this session will demonstrate the strength of Simcenter STAR-CCM+® meshing, workflow and the latest physics models for some of the most challenging mixing problems in the industry

  • Alex Smith, Process Engineering Team Leader for Industrial Biotechnology and Biorefining at The Centre for Process Innovation (CPI)
  • Ravi Aglave, Director, Energy & Process Industries at Siemens PLM Software
  • Thomas Eppinger, Technical Specialist, Chemical Process Industries and Reaction Engineering at Siemens PLM Software
