Engineers are discussing system simulation models with Simcenter Amesim software on a couple of screens.

Simcenter

Technologies

Combine various cutting-edge simulation technologies in a single platform.

Deploy system simulation models in various environments

Leverage best-in-class simulation technologies with Simcenter. The platform has several numerical capabilities, including a recognized solver, in-depth performance analysis functionalities, as well as powerful discrete partitioning and parallel processing features. Moreover, Simcenter allows covering all the model-in-the-loop (MiL), software-in-the-loop (SiL) and hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) phases, thanks to having real-time compatible libraries, and being streamlined by numerous model simplification tools. Simcenter models can be exported to a minimum of a dozen real-time targets.

Seamless 1D/3D integration is ensured by user-friendly Finite element analysis (FEA)/Finite element method (FEM) and computer-aided design (CAD) import capabilities, and by many dedicated interfaces with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) or multi-body simulation (MBS) tools. Simcenter supports all the coupling modes of the functional mock-up interface (FMI) standard. Its generic co-simulation interface enables custom-tailored coupling with in-house or legacy codes. And ultimately, the support of the Modelica language provides the key advantage of combining the best of causal and acausal modeling approaches within a single platform.

Delivering for CAE Value AB

Eric Wendeberg and Kim Bladh, Senior Technical Consultants at CAE Value AB, explain how they use Simcenter Amesim and Simcenter HEEDS to perform multi-attribute balancing of hybrid vehicles.

Technologies capabilities

1D/3D integration

Make your product development more efficient in a closed toolchain through interfaces with other external computer-aided technologies (CAx) software programs – Simcenter 3D, Simcenter STAR CCM+ and other CAE software. These interfaces allow you to easily benefit from other applications in different domains, such as CAD, CAE, FEA/FEM, CFD, and MBS. Simcenter provides you advanced coupling features to ensure reliable co-simulation with 3D CAE tools, and import functionalities to integrate CAD geometries or FEA modal data of a structure in your models.

Model-in-the-loop, software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop and real-time simulation

Implement efficient collaboration between system and control engineers at every stage of the development cycle. Most Simcenter libraries are real-time capable, so models can be simplified while preserving physical relevance, through a continuous process, streamlined by powerful model simplification tools. Controls validation is made possible by C-code integration and a Simulink interface. The Automation Connect module connects your digital twin model with real or virtual programmable logic controllers (PLCs).

Modelica platform

Extend your use of Simcenter with Modelica, the open standard physical systems description language. Not only can you build multiphysics acausal models using tools of the Modelica platform, but you can also use the powerful features of Simcenter to run and analyze the full system. You can develop, enhance and reuse Modelica libraries to describe dynamic multiphysics systems and combine them seamlessly with the Simcenter native libraries: the best of both worlds in your hands.

Software interfaces

Run Simcenter models as exported co-simulation dynamic link libraries (DLLs) within your in-house or legacy codes with the generic co-simulation interface. This interface also enables CPU-efficient co-simulations between distinct Simcenter models through a shared-memory or TCP-IP connection. Moreover, Simcenter supports all the coupling modes of the functional mock-up interface (FMI) standard, both in its 1.0 and 2.0 versions. It therefore interfaces seamlessly with a large and growing number of FMI compatible tools.

Solvers and numerics

Accurately simulate your system by using cutting-edge numerical methods capable of catching and reproducing dynamic behavior in great detail. The discrete partitioning library and built-in parallel processing features for batch and optimization studies allow fast, efficient simulations and design space exploration on multicore architectures, as well as specific scripts and libraries for high-performance computing use. The software includes tools, such as a performance analyzer, to allow better assessment and understanding of simulation performance.
