PLANO, Texas and BEIJING -- UGS PLM Solutions, the product lifecycle management (PLM) subsidiary of EDS, today announced it has provided a grant of Product Life cycle Management (PLM) software to the Mechanical & Vehicular School at Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). The estimated commercial value of the grant, whic h includes Unigraphics® NX, I-deas® NX Series, Solid Edge®, E-factor y and Teamcenter® visualization tools along with training and technical supp ort, is US $145 million. BIT will incorporate the software into current and new curricula to help undergr aduate and graduate students develop a wide range of skills in mechanical and ve hicular product development. Students will gain experience with the same PLM sof tware used by leading companies worldwide to create products and manage product lifecycles from initial concept through, design, analysis, testing, manufacturin g, service and retirement. By increasing collaboration among all members of a pr oduct team, PLM fosters innovative product design and development, and helps com panies bring their products to market faster.
