FOR RELEASE Tuesday, April 26, 2005
HAMEENLINNA, Finland and PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that Patria Vehicles Oy, part of the Patria Group, has standardized on UGS’ NX™ and Teamcenter™ software and services for product development throughout its organization and supply chain.
Today’s announcement marks an expansion of the joint work between the two companies which began in 1997 Patria Vehicles currently uses UGS’ digital simulation software solution for advanced finite element analysis (FEA).
The agreement creates a framework to deploy NX (UGS’ digital product development software) and Teamcenter (UGS’ product knowledge management and collaboration software) for armored wheeled vehicles, Patria Vehicles’ flagship product. NX will replace Patria Vehicles’ existing computer-aided design (CAD) solutions.
“UGS has proven its superiority in products and quality of services,” said Ari Talvenheimo, vice president of engineering, Patria Vehicles. “After extensive and measured product tests we have confidently selected UGS and their regional partner Ideal Engineering Oy to be our PLM technology and service provider.”
“UGS is pleased to have won this expanded contract with Patria, a leading defense company. This agreement is the culmination of several years of collaboration between the companies,” said Mike Robinson, director Northern and Eastern Europe for UGS’ Distributor Operations, EMEA. “Patria Vehicles’ extensive testing and adoption of our solutions confirms UGS as the only company able to satisfy the complex PLM needs of a manufacturing company requiring real time collaboration within its own organization and in the extended supplier enterprise.”
