SHANGHAI and PLANO, Texas, February 15, 2006 – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced the launch of its NX Designer Certification Program at Shanghai Jiaotong University. The program helps students prepare for the global workplace and enhances their ability to contribute in a professional environment.
Seventy-nine students and faculty participated in the pilot certification process in which UGS’ NX™ digital product development software helped students experience PLM processes in a classroom environment. Three more NX certification exams are planned during the first quarter of 2006 in China.
“Both our students and faculty will benefit from the certification,” said Professor Guanlong Chen, dean, School of Mechanical Engineering of Shanghai Jiaotong University. “The pilot was impressive, well-organized and professional. The program measures students’ mastery of the design tools and I believe the certification will improve their potential for success in the recruiting market. We’ve used NX in our design and manufacturing curriculum for more than three years and we are pleased to get involved in this pilot event.”
