Battery fast charging scenario optimization using simulation
Improve battery fast charging experience thanks to a simulation approach keeping an eye on battery aging
2019 was a prominent year for electric vehicles. The leading OEMs are now engaged in the e-race and customers are ready to adopt what is no longer a trend but a viable option for their daily commutes. The question of performance, maintenance costs, and range of EVs is becoming a thing of the past for customers, who are now focused on the time it takes to charge when taking their EV on a long drive.
Although engineers are now proposing fast charging capabilities, optimizing battery module charging control, they must deal with pack thermal management and premature aging prevention. The ultimate objective is to find the correct balance between these attributes.
During this webinar, you will see system simulation technology in action, as well as detailed cell electrochemical modeling to perform sensitivity analysis on fast charging scenarios. Next, cell geometrical design optimization will be performed to reach an optimal compromise between charge speed, cell temperature, and battery aging.
You will learn:
Lionel Broglia
Business Development Manager, Siemens Digital Industries Software
Lionel is Business Development Manager for System simulation activities, focusing on the electrification ground transportation. He has a master's degree in mechanical engineering and is involved in multi-domain system simulation since 1999.
Gaëtan Damblanc
Powertrain Electrification Product Manager, Siemens Digital Industries Software
Gaëtan's responsibilities span battery modeling, electric machines design, and electromagnetics to help develop solutions needed for the future xEVs. He is also responsible for the dissemination of best practice usage of these solutions. He worked previously as a Simcenter battery technical specialist.
