Inovação e gerenciamento de programa sincronizado e colaborativo para novos programas
FOR RELEASE Thursday, May 11, 2006
COLOGNE, Germany and PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that Röhm GmbH, a leading global manufacturer and supplier of customized and standard chucking tools for machinery, has expanded its use of Solid Edge® software -- UGS’ industry-leading, value-based 3D computer-aided design (CAD) system for the mainstream PLM market -- for its 3D design platform.
Through the end of 2006, Röhm will replace all remaining 2D seats at the company’s three development sites throughout Germany.
“The original decision to move to Solid Edge was based on the combined 2D and 3D functionality. While our manufacturing process is based on 2D drawings, our customers are requesting 3D models of their chucking tools,” says Armin Schmid, head of Information Technology at Röhm. “With Solid Edge, we can best fulfill both of these requirements.”
Röhm began to standardize on Solid Edge nearly three years ago, following an evaluation by Röhm that analyzed Solid Edge and other leading high-end 3D CAD systems against the requirements for designing drill chucks, revolving tailstock centers, lathe chucks, power chucks and roboter peripheries. In the benchmark study between the systems, conducted by designers in different sites, Solid Edge was the winner. Subsequently, the existing Helix™ 2D seats, no longer supported by the supplier, are being steadily replaced with Solid Edge. A direct interface to SAP/R3 addresses the management of PDF drawings and 3D models.
“We are convinced that Röhm can meet the precise requirements of their design departments and customers with Solid Edge better than with any other solution,” says Berthold Miekautsch, business channel manager, UGS Germany. “The complete move to 3D will open up another productivity push.”
“The practical work and the consistent further development of Solid Edge, as well as the good support by the Solid System Team, reinforce our original decision to choose UGS,” says Schmid.
Solid System Team, leading Solid Edge Partner of UGS in Germany, supports Röhm with training, macro programming for process optimization and helpdesk support.
“High availability and customer-centric consulting are critical in today’s PLM business,” says Joachim Mack, managing director of Solid System Team, leading Solid Edge Partner in Germany.
