Innovation and collaborative, synchronized program management for new programs
BEIJING - May 28, 2012 – Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that it has been ranked as the number one overall PLM solution supplier in China based on its 2011 revenue, and is also number one in two key PLM sub-segments, computer-aided design (CAD) and digital manufacturing, according to leading independent global PLM management consulting and research firm CIMdata, Inc. Siemens PLM Software also earned the top position in providing PLM solutions to China’s automotive and industrial equipment markets, which continue to grow at a rapid rate.
“Although the global economy is still in a recovery stage, we have witnessed an impressive increase in PLM investment throughout 2011,” said Peter Bilello, President of CIMdata. “In key markets such as China, PLM strategies are broadening and deepening, driving adoption of PLM-enabling solutions to support the development of more complex, high-valued added products.”
Siemens PLM Software in China – for the second year in a row – was ranked number one in the CAD and digital manufacturing segments within PLM. The high-end, multi-discipline CAD segment is served by Siemens PLM Software’s NX™ software, a leading integrated solution for computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering (CAD/CAM/CAE). The digital manufacturing segment is served by Siemens PLM Software’s Tecnomatix® portfolio for digital manufacturing automation and simulation.
In its 2012 China PLM Report, CIMdata reports that the automotive and industrial equipment markets are two of the fastest growing markets in China. “Automotive has slowed its growth rate, but it remains the largest market in China. Growth continued in machinery and high-tech,” according to Stan Przybylinski, CIMdata Director of Research. “While the global PLM market continued its strong growth in 2011, the Chinese PLM market came back even stronger. In 2011, the Chinese Mainstream PLM market grew 22.4 percent, and in 2012 the growth rate of the Chinese Mainstream PLM market is forecasted to be about 12 percent.” Chinese industries that are heavily investing in PLM include aerospace, automotive, high-tech, and mechanical.
“As businesses continue to focus on creating an environment that enables a reduction in the development cycle time while increasing the product’s usable life, the need to implement an effective PLM solution that can manage the entire process from conceptualization to retirement continues to grow rapidly especially in a burgeoning market like China,” said Paul Vogel, executive vice president of Global Sales, Marketing and Services Delivery, Siemens PLM Software. “As a global leader of PLM solutions, Siemens PLM Software is committed to helping our customers make smarter decisions to ultimately build better products. These accolades further validate our unparalleled leadership in major industries and markets around the world.”
According to CIMdata, the global PLM market in 2011 exceeded the firm’s 2010 forecast with all of the sectors showing growth in investment. Market growth continued throughout the year across all sectors and growth was much higher in software than in services. Mainstream PLM grew 12.8 percent to $18.7 billion.
