Innovation and collaborative, synchronized program management for new programs
FOR RELEASE Thursday, September 16, 2004
TOKYOandPLANO, Texas– UGS, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, todaypresented an overview of its business development in Asia Pacific, the world’s fastest growing region for the adoption of PLM. At the event,UGShighlighted its latest digital product development software, NX™ 3, and showcased several examples of how PLM is transforming thebusinessprocess in Asia Pacific.
PLM solutions are increasingly becoming mission-critical in the region, as manufacturing companies throughout Asia seek to compete in the global economy more vigorously by bringing more innovative products to market while both minimizing cost and maximizing quality, and by cooperating more closely with customers, suppliers and other partners. Through its range of collaborative PLM tools, platforms and services, UGS, partnering with customers, helps these companies transform their process of innovation.
NX 3 is UGS’ most significant release to date designed to deliver its strategy to provide digital product development solutions that transform the entire product development process. For the first time, thanks to NX 3, all participants in the product development process can use a single digital model synchronized within a single managed collaborative environment, from planning through engineering into manufacturing.
Deployment ofNX 3 will enable manufacturers to transform traditionally engineering-centric computer-aided-design (CAD) and product data management (PDM) implementations into enterprise-wide PLM strategies – with enterprise-wide benefits in terms of competitiveness and profitability.
The managed development environment for NX, powered by the de facto standard, Teamcenter, provides a scalable solution – from simple vaulting to engineering process management, continuous digital validation, multi-site integration, requirements management and manufacturing planning. Customers can implement these solutions in stages, with each solution delivering incremental return on investment.
By focusing on delivering the value associated with some of today’s key business process initiatives, such as “Lean Design” and “Design for Six Sigma” (DFSS), NX 3 helps reduce waste across all the disciplines of product development. NX 3 enables users to avoid the inefficient creativity of non-repeatable processes and use automated design processes that maximize engineering and part re-use. NX 3 also delivers major improvements in design productivity that directly impact process efficiency and ultimately reduces wasted effort during the product lifecycle.
