Innovation and collaborative, synchronized program management for new programs
FOR RELEASE Tuesday, February 21, 2006
PLANO, Texas– UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced a free software upgrade to all current MSC. Nastran™ for Windows® (a product based on UGS’ Femap® product and previously sold by MSC) users to UGS’ own Femap with NX™ Nastran analysis solution.
UGS’ offer results directly from its decision to terminate the OEM agreement between UGS and MSC.Software that allowed MSC.Software to bundle Femap with MSC.Nastran. As a result of UGS’ decision to terminate the contract, MSC can no longer provide Femap inside MSC.Nastran for Windows nor offer upgrades.
UGS decided to terminate the contract due to MSC’s consistent failure to deliver upgrades to customers on a timely basis. Users who take advantage of UGS’ free software upgrade offer will receive Femap 9.1 and NX Nastran 4.0 immediately, and all future updates in a timely fashion. This offer enables Femap-based product users to protect their existing investment in Femap and increase productivity through the latest enhancements. Femap 9.1 contains significant enhancements in automation and solution accuracy. NX Nastran 4.0 offers new and unique analysis capabilities such as linear contact and a fast iterative solver.
“We can say hands-down that our partnership with UGS has driven our growth and profits to an all time high,” saidGeorge Laird, Ph.D., P.E., chief technologist, Predictive Engineering. “Our ability to sell and support Femap and NX Nastran has been invaluable to reach that next level of client collaboration and facilitate our clients’ progress toward wider use of analysis tools as they strive to bring their products to the marketplace on time and on budget.”
Predictive Engineering is a new partner in UGS’ Global Channel Program, focused on reselling digital simulation products. Resellers interested in joining UGS’ channel program to support their customer base with the latest UGS® digital simulation products should call 1.800.498.5351 toll free or 1.314.264.8499.
The offer includes immediate support but is subject to the purchase of a 12-month maintenance agreement, which would commence after the expiration or termination of any current maintenance agreements. UGS also extends this offer to all users of Femap-based products with lapsed maintenance agreements.
This offer is available for a limited time. For full details, call 1.800.498.5351 (U.S) or
