Siemens Digital Industries Software invites you to join us for a complimentary informative and educational day, covering the integrated design and analysis for automotive and heavy vehicles.

More than ever, the OEM and TIER1 engineering teams contributing to the development of vehicles are under pressure to deliver better performing vehicles faster to market with increased energy efficiency, reduced noise/vibration and increased durability. With rapidly penetrating electrification and automation an integrated design and analysis approach becomes even more necessary to keep an established brand recognition.

This free seminar will demonstrate how integrated design and simulation is used to bring various, often conflicting requirements together in one design. All demonstrations are based on the Kyburz electric vehicle E-rod.

Predicting accurate component loads in Multiphysics Mechatronic Systems

Most products and equipment that we use daily are no longer simple mechanical systems, but are full conglomerates of mechanics, electronics, hydraulics, electrics, etc. that work seamlessly together. Keeping the design of the mechanical systems separated from the development of actuators and controls, whilst discovering about “how it all works together” during the physical prototype testing, leads to overpriced and over-designed products, with potentially delayed market delivery.

Early prediction of accurate system behavior has become crucial for keeping up with the market trends, maintain high profitability, reduce warranty costs and sustain brand recognition.

During 60 minutes we will provide insights on how to:
• Gain full understanding of the mechanism dynamics way before building any prototypes
• Predict system behavior, packaging compliance and loads in various connections
• Reuse existing FEA data to increase predicted loads accuracy level

11:30

Deep dive into transmission modelling with the Transmission Builder

Understanding transmissions performance early in the design cycle has become a critical element in guaranteeing gearbox reliability and, at the same time, minimizing development costs. However, the latest trends in different indutries put an additional heavy accent on reducing the vibration and noise levels, along with dropping final products’ energy consumption and CO2 emissions.

During this dedicated-session we will show how Siemens solutions can “Put the transmission development into a higher gear”, providing introspective into:
• Novel gear-dynamics methodologies that bring the digital-twin transmission accuracy to unprecedented levels.
• How can you meet mass-reduction targets for minimized weight, material cost and emissions, whilst keeping under control gear whine and rattle phenomena?
• Reduce your time for simulation through efficient Transmission Builder processes and Simcenter platform collaborative approach

System level fatigue – a streamlined process to avoid recalls and keep warranty costs under control

Accurate loads are the most influencing factor for fatigue. Testing and simulating with wrong load data can bring problems in the real-life usage (up to products recall), overdesign or may even lead to wrong decisions in design changes. Therefore, a straightforward and error-free process to transfer loads from FE and Multibody simulations is an important step to good fatigue decisions.

Simcenter solutions will assist you in acquiring the correct loading data and virtually validate product strength & durability performance. Our solutions offer an end-to-end durability engineering approach, accelerate your time to market, and meticulously balance weight, strength & durability to avoid vehicle recalls and meet customer’s expectations.

During the 30 minutes seession we shall look at the System Level Durability aproach, namely:
• How do you get and organize the real component loads - acting, working and fatiguing your structure?
• Platform approach advantages for loads transfer
• Efficient workflows to assess the critical durability spots

13:30

Modal Correlation and Updating - Comparing virtual models with physical test data.

When engineers create and simulate a finite element model, they often ask, “How do you know the analysis model is accurate?” Modal Correlation helps answer this question by enabling you to compare the finite element model to measured test data so that engineers can assess the degree of match. A high degree of match, or correlation, between the analysis results and the test data gives engineers confidence that the analysis model is accurate.

Industrialization of Additive Manufacturing with one Integrated End-to-End System

Additive Manufacturing offers amazing opportunities for innovation across industries. Due to this technology it’s possible to manufacture complex designs provided by Topology Optimization studies, however, production issues with expensive materials like metal powder can cost thousands of dollars. This session will show you in a fully integrated environment a complete solution not only to discover new designs but also to prepare the components to be printed and to simulate the printing process to predict and compensate for these issues.
