Gartner named Siemens a Visionary vendor in its 2022 Magic Quadrant for global industrial IoT platforms. Gartner’s research was based on the idea that the best industrial IoT solutions balance technology, partners, and domain expertise.

The 2022 Magic Quadrant for global industrial IoT platforms reveals:

• The strengths and cautions of 16 vendors, including Siemens as Visionary

• How vendors are evaluated for their “ability to execute” and “completeness of vision”

In its analysis, Gartner evaluated the strengths of Siemens’ industrial IoT as a service solution, including the strong focus on ease of implementation and ease of use – with both customized applications made with the leading low-code platform, Mendix, and packaged capabilities and industry solutions. This is the second year in a row Siemens has been positioned as Visionary.

How Siemens positioned as Visionary for industrial IoT platforms

In the report, Gartner defines Visionaries as the innovators that drive the market forward by responding to customer demands and offering new opportunities to excel. They also provide differentiated value in targeted IIoT platform elements to meet current and future market needs. This year, only three companies were positioned in the Visionary quadrant.

In this report, analysts reveal their examination of the strengths of Siemens’ industrial IoT platform:

• Strong focus on ease of implementation and ease of use, both with the Mendix capabilities and with packaged business capabilities (PBCs) and a variety of industry solutions.

• Europe remains the center of gravity for IoT deployments, but the company has demonstrated deployments on a global basis.

• Large-scale manufacturing projects demonstrate ability to deliver automation, monitoring and cost optimization.

Siemens industrial IoT as a service

Siemens’ SaaS-based solution for industrial IoT is offered as public or private SaaS, powering the IoT from the edge to the cloud with advanced analytics and AI. Part of Siemens’ Xcelerator portfolio, it integrates seamlessly with Siemens’ other software and services to enable powerful solutions, including the full realization of the closed-loop digital twin. Built to leverage the Mendix application development platform, it empowers customers, partners and the full Siemens organization to quickly develop and integrate personalized IoT applications, allowing customized business use cases to quickly take shape.
