NEW DELHI, India and PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that Research Designs & Standards Organization (RDSO), Lucknow, Research and Design Center of Ministry of Railways, Government of India has selected NX™ software, UGS’ comprehensive digital product development solution for 3D computer-aided-design (CAD) and NX Nastran for solving its sophisticated engineering simulation models.
NX’s comprehensive integration of product design, system design and digital simulation was the primary decision factor for RDSO. The strength of the NX solution in handling large assemblies, electro-mechanical routing and engineering analysis – including heat and fatigue – were also key factors valued by RDSO.

RDSO relied on NX’s ease of use to help get the job done fast and to help address most complex and challenging designs. NX is the most suited system for managing RDSO’s complete design cycle, including design validation. RDSO will upgrade its design office to an NX-based CAD facility for preparation of designs, standards and specifications which are followed by all railway production sites in India,” said RDSO.
