Discover how NASCAR’s Hendrick Motorsports leverages CFD simulation on Microsoft Azure
The continuous changes in NASCAR regulations increase the pressure on every team, which requires continuous tuning of cars aerodynamics. Consequently, the routine CFD operations of CAD building, meshing, running and post-processing must be executed in the most efficient way. Engineers must implement an efficient CFD simulation workflow, thus reducing prototyping time. In that context, cloud technology opens to whole new ways of using CFD simulation. Companies can now downsize upfront investments in IT and infrastructure, achieve flexibility and scale up or down the necessary computational power and utilize flexible licensing schemes.
In this webinar, experts from Hendrick Motorsports and Microsoft Azure explain how the NASCAR team leverages Microsoft’s cloud platform and the efficient workflow offered by Simcenter CFD solutions to achieve the most pole positions for the 2019 season.
You’ll be introduced to the following concepts and methodologies:
Carlo Locci
Global Application Specialist, Siemens Digital Industries Software
Carlo graduated in Italy in mechanical engineering. He then received his Ph.D at the IFPEN in Paris after working on a thesis on combustion numerical modeling. He then spent another year at the French national center of research for a post-doc. Since October 2015 he works for Siemens Digital Industries Software as Powertrain and Fuel Cells Application Specialist and is based in Nurnberg.
Chris Haid
Director, Marketing Services, Hendrick Motorsports
Joined Hendrick Motorsports in 2003 and is responsible for the oversight of Hendrick Motorsports’ more than 30 corporate partnerships. In addition to account management, Chris and his team are responsible for service functions at Hendrick Motorsports which include graphic arts, events/hospitality, showcars and e-commerce. Chris is a graduate of Bowling Green (Ohio) University.
Scott Lusted
Aerodynamicist, Hendrick Motorsports
Scott is passionate engineer that enjoys the challenge of stock car aerodynamics and using the best technology available to advance the product design in a competitive environment. Lusted joined Hendrick Motorsports in 2017 after having worked previously at Corvid Technologies and ARC Automotive. Lusted is a graduate of the University of Tennessee.
Kurt Niebuhr
Principal Program Manager Azure, Microsoft
Although Kurt has spent part of his career working with electronics and aerospace companies, he has pretty much been focused on automotive OEMs and tier 1 suppliers. His current job is with the Big Compute Azure engineering team, as a principle program manager responsible for the manufacturing vertical but focused on automotive & motor sports.
