FOR RELEASE Monday, October 16, 2006
PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced a Femap® software upgrade for all MSC.Patran® users. The offer allows Patran users to upgrade to Femap for approximately the same cost that they are paying for Patran maintenance today. The upgrade allows Patran users to switch to a more robust and efficient simulation environment while maintaining their current design and analysis processes through Femap’s comprehensive CAD and solver interfaces.
“Femap is a functionally rich application that has been built to deliver a specific set of tools to a wide range of users from the design engineer to the advanced analyst,” said Al Dean, Technology Editor, MCAD Magazine. “It serves both ends of the market equally well. Combined with the lower than expected price, it is a worthy application in any toolkit – and deserves to be investigated by anyone with even the most transitory interest in analysis and simulation.”
Femap is the CAE component of the UGS Velocity Series™ portfolio. Companies in the aerospace, defense, heavy industry and shipbuilding industries leverage Femap for their advanced finite element analysis.
“Femap is a core component of the UGS strategy for delivering scalable solutions for design, analysis and simulation,” said Bill McClure, vice president, UGS Velocity Series. “UGS will continue the long history of delivering industry leading finite element analysis solutions on the Windows platform.”
“Femap is one of the best solutions on the market and it’s very easy to use,” said Chris Flannigan, vice president of Engineering, Quartus Engineering. “As a Windows native application, it’s easier to use in the Windows environment. We have other pre- and post-processors available, such as Patran, but they’re less user-friendly and less capable overall. Femap is a superior product.”
“UGS has a group of motivated software engineers working constantly to add more functionality to Femap,” said Joe Brotherton, director of product development, KIC Holdings. “With software that is this important to your company’s mission, it is better to be moving forward than standing still.”
This offer is available for a limited time. For full details, visit www.ugs.com/products/velocity/femap_patran.shtml
