PLANO, Texas and PHILADELPHIA -- EDS today announced it has donated product life cycle management (PLM) software from its PLM Solutions line of business to the U niversity of Pennsylvania. The donation consists of 100 seats each of Unigraphics, I-deas and Solid Edge me chanical design automation (MCAD) software that will be deployed into the univer sitys undergraduate and graduate curriculum in the Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics (MEAM) department. The PLM Solutions software will be used throughout the MEAM curricul um beginning in a popular freshman-level computer-aided design and manufacturing course that is taken by students from many disciplines and culminating with the ir capstone senior design projects, says Eduardo Glandt, Dean, School of E ngineering & Applied Science, University of Pennsylvania. Our undergraduat e and graduate students will be introduced to Unigraphics to support our design and analysis programs, and this experience will prepare them well as they enter the commercial world.
