PLANO, Texas and KOBLENZ, Germany -- UGS PLM Solutions, the product lifecycle management (PLM) subsidiary of EDS, today announced STABILUS GmbH, a leading manufacturer of hydro-pneumatic adjustment elements (gas springs, hydraulic vibration dampers, etc.) has selected UGS PLM Solutions as its new technology partner for PLM and has standardized on Unigraphics® NX and Teamcenter® as its PLM backbone for global collaboration.
STABILUS conducted a comprehensive evaluation of software from various PLM software providers before selecting UGS PLM Solutions' Teamcenter; the world's most widely used product data management solution, for its collaboration backbone. The company will use Teamcenter to implement design management, document management and workflow management. In addition, it will use NX -- a comprehensive portfolio of computer aided design (CAD), computer aided manufacturing (CAM ) and computer aided engineering (CAE) software solutions for digital decision making -- for its end-to-end advanced product development.
Due to the increasing complexity of its new products, STABILUS required an enhanced PLM solution to replace its existing automated layout and 2D design solution -- which consisted of internally developed software programs and standard 2D CAD software and interfaces -- with an integrated 3D system with the ability to integrate the existing process knowledge and automatically create all required documents.
"STABILUS was not only searching for an enhanced PLM solution but also a technology partner with the ability to provide us a best-of-breed solution. UGS PLM Solutions was the perfect choice," said Andreas Genieser, project manager at STABILUS. "UGS PLM Solutions offered us technologically advanced products such as Unigraphics NX and Teamcenter, but the crucial decision making factor was the service professionals with a clear understanding of our requirements and industry specific knowledge to deliver a customized comprehensive solution."
"As products become more and more complex companies worldwide are recognizing the need for advanced PLM solutions with the ability to more efficiently integrate and manage design data while speeding up the design and development process," said Tony Affuso, president and CEO of UGS PLM Solutions. "STABILUS' decision to choose UGS PLM Solutions for the superiority of our technology and professionals is a testament to our leadership in the industry and our ability to leverage existing IT investments for fast implementation and quick return-on-investment."
Teamcenter, the world's most widely used product data management solution, is a scalable, integrated solution that allows manufacturers to design new products in a communication environment that enables geographically distributed data sharing for product lifecycle data. Based on open standards, Teamcenter integrates with each customer's existing IT investment -- and the systems of partners and suppliers -- further supporting rapid implementation and adoption throughout the extended enterprise. Teamcenter brings together the collective knowledge and insight of the enterprise in an open, collaborative environment, so clients can make smarter product-related decisions that lead to better and more cost-effective products. Teamcenter creates an intellectual asset management environment that elevates knowledge as a corporate asset, uniting product knowledge with process innovation to deliver business value throughout the product lifecycle.
NX provides a comprehensive portfolio of CAD/CAM/CAE software solutions for digital decision making founded on a next-generation architecture and technologies that uniquely address the driving business issues in product development. NX allows clients to conceive, design, engineer and validate discretely manufactured products -- and capture their product definitions -- in a fully digital environment.
