FOR RELEASE Wednesday, July 14, 2004
NEW YORK– UGS, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced NX Managed Development Environment. Among the new capabilities and enhancements that will be available in the upcoming release of NX™ 3, NX Managed Development Environment leverages the combined strengths of NX and Teamcenter®,the leading integrated portfolio of PLM solutions,to provide an enhanced foundation for digital product development.
UGS made the announcement in conjunction with its analyst/media briefing event being held July 14-15 in New York. The briefing is the first such event UGS has held since announcing on May 27 the closing of its sale by EDS to three private equity firms and its launch of operations as an independent software company under the UGS brand.
NX Managed Development Environment manages a much broader spectrum of data than ever before, including: CAD; drawings; documents and spread sheets; simulation scenarios; test data and results; NC data and associated tooling information; embedded knowledge and validation solutions. Companies can easily scale to engineering process management by streamlining critical processes and workflows with fully integrated, synchronized management of all product data and process knowledge. As a result they can eliminate waste and significantly improve product quality – critical components of lean design and design for Six Sigma initiatives.
“NX Management Development Environment will be game changing,” said Chuck Grindstaff, executive vice president, PLM Products UGS. “And, NX Managed Development Environment is the first of a number of new capabilities and enhancements that when fully released in NX 3 will provide our global customers a complete digital product development solution.”
