FOR RELEASE Thursday, July 29, 2004
PLANO, Texas– UGS, a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that its recently acquired D-Cubed subsidiary has reached an agreement with French software developer Sescoi International enabling Sescoi to integrate D-Cubed’s component software into its WorkNC-CAD application.
Sescoi’s WorkNC-CAD provides all the tools required to design and manufacture molds, dies and tooling without the need for additional software applications or outsourcing. D-Cubed components will be incorporated into WorkNC-CAD to help bring high performance computer-aided design (CAD) functionality to WorkNC, Sescoi’s internationally recognized computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) application.
“We are committed to bringing world class CAD functionality to our WorkNC customers,” said Bruno Marko, CEO of Sescoi. “The agreement with D-Cubed will bring significant productivity gains to our customers, who will benefit from the same underlying technology that is used in high-end mechanical CAD systems. Employing this technology will also benefit Sescoi by enabling us to keep our own resources focused on creating the world’s best manufacturing software solutions.”
The agreement announced today enables Sescoi to integrate D-Cubed’s 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager (2D DCM) and 3D DCM component products into its own end-user application. The 2D DCM component is the world’s leading geometric constraint solver. Users of 2D DCM based sketchers have access to advanced tools for creating and modifying sketches using geometric rules and relationships. The 3D DCM enables the efficient use of dimensions and constraints to position parts in assemblies and mechanisms, to control the shape of parts, and to produce 3D sketches.
“This agreement represents another example of D-Cubed’s seamless transition into UGS and serves to further validate how transparently D-Cubed fits into UGS’ successful PLM Open business model,” said Bruce Feldt, vice president of Open Tools for UGS. “D-Cubed will continue to supply an unmatched suite of open solutions for software development organizations and be an important contributor to maintaining UGS’ position as the industry’s premier supplier of component technology.”
D-Cubed
Software solutions from D-Cubed, a wholly owned subsidiary of UGS, are part of UGS’ PLM Components family of products. D-Cubed develops software components for the CAD/CAM/CAE application development industry in all areas of geometric, solid and variational/parametric modeling. Many of the world’s leading CAD/CAM/CAE vendors have adopted one or more of D?Cubed’s widely respected component technologies for integration into their end-user applications.
