PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that the Printing Business Unit of ABB Ltd., the leading power and automation technology group headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, has added nearly 100 new seats of FactoryLinkTM software, the production automation software from UGS’ TecnomatixTM family of products, to bring total adoption to more than 1,000 seats. ABB has integrated FactoryLink in MPS Control Console, part of its comprehensive control system for newspaper printing presses.
ABB has developed many cutting-edge software solutions that integrate, control, track and automate the entire process of newspaper production. Its MPS Control Console, based on FactoryLink, can be used with both new presses or retrofits and gives printers an ideal user interface for maintaining print quality and productivity. The new seats relate to an ongoing retrofitting project at 18 print sites of Dow Jones & Company, Inc. for the Wall Street Journal.
