BANGALORE, India – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, and Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), today formally launched a technical training manual, the “Primer on Computer-Aided-Engineering Drawing,” at a ceremony held in Bangalore, India. An expert panel with more than 100 years of teaching experience worked together to author the manual.
“Primer on Computer-Aided-Engineering Drawing” facilitates the implementation of a program to introduce Computer-Aided-Engineering drawing as the standard mode of engineering graphics, replacing the traditional manual drafting. The manual was specially prepared to align current curriculum with the Engineering Graphics course offered by various engineering colleges affiliated with VTU.
“This initiative was taken on by VTU to equip engineering students with knowledge and skills that are expected to enhance their value to the manufacturing industry in India,” said Dr. K. Balaveera Reddy, vice chancellor, VTU. “The introduction of the Computer-Aided-Engineering graphics is expected to go a long way in achieving VTU’s objective of providing our students with the most current and technologically relevant education, thus equipping them with skills demanded by industry. UGS’ leadership position in the PLM market ensures that our students are exposed to the most common and technologically advanced tools in industry today.”
The manual will also assist the faculty in explaining Computer-Aided-Engineering drawing concepts in a concise and informative manner with reference course material and technical sources.
