Innovazione e gestione dei programmi sincronizzata e collaborativa per i nuovi programmi
PLANO, Texas -- EDS reported today that ASM Pacific Technology Ltd. has expanded its deployment of Solid Edge® computer-aided design (CAD) software to include more than 100 licenses. ASM uses Solid Edge from EDS PLM Solutions to model its worldwide line of semiconductor machinery. ASM originally replaced its previous 2D system with 52 licenses of Solid Edge for operations in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia and has now added 50 more.
"Our move to 3D was made in order to reduce design time and lower the number of costly design changes," said Gary Fong, CAD section manager at ASM. "The result has been a very positive impact on downstream processes that speed manufacturing."
ASM also cited Solid Edge Insight technology for its decision to expand on its current use of Solid Edge. ASM designs machinery with thousands of parts and faces the common challenge to keep its working designs up to date. "We have seen a great need for an efficient and easy-to-use design management system that is part of the CAD product and manages the product structure, while securely maintaining the links between files. We are glad to see that Solid Edge has taken an industry lead with the Insight technology innovation," Fong said.
In its selection decision, ASM also cited Solid Edge’s interoperability with another EDS PLM Solutions product, Unigraphics, for computer-aided manufacturing (CAM). "Our high-end CAM needs will be easily met because of the tight integration between Solid Edge and Unigraphics," said Fong.
Design with Insight: Exclusive Solid Edge Insight knowledge-sharing technology embeds design management capabilities directly within CAD to provide better quality products, lower costs, and shorter delivery cycles. Thousands of companies worldwide, including Alcoa, NEC Engineering and Volvo, cite Solid Edge for its innovative design capabilities and ease of use.
The Solid Edge Voyager Program includes more than 150 integrated engineering software applications and computer hardware solutions.
