Built on the legacy of long experience with in-vehicle communication, Siemens' provides support for communication protocols including, CAN, CAN-FD, Ethernet, LIN, FlexRay, and implementations for multi-domain architectures or gateway ECUs supporting the AUTOSAR standard. Many proprietary OEM-specific protocols are implemented in addition to the ISO 14429 diagnostic stacks and specific Ethernet software protocols such as SOME/IP and eAVB.
The solution includes standard AUTOSAR components for onboard cybersecurity. In addition, multi-layered cybersecurity components include firewall and firmware for automotive-grade hardware security modules.
The AUTOSAR diagnostics implementation, including the legislated OBD standards, is expanded with support for vehicle manufacturer specifics and extensions. The implementation is configurable for scalability with optimizations to be efficient in low latency applications. Extensions allow XCP based calibration enabled by the ASAM standardized A2L exchange format.
Functional safety features and partitioning capabilities allow for ECUs to be implemented with mixed criticality, ensuring freedom from interference (FFI) as defined in ISO 26262.
Capital VSTAR implements the standardized AUTOSAR multi core features with ingenious additions to enable utilization of advanced MCU multicore architectures to the fullest by providing for example load balancing over cores in combination with dedicated execution time for low latency applications. Integrate AUTOSAR on powerful multi core SoCs to utilize the benefits of communication protocol support and functional safety in a heterogeneous OS environment along with other OSes such as Linux and Nucleus®. The inter-process communication and lifecycle-management is enabled with the Siemens Multicore Framework.
The Capital VSTAR solution supports many OEM-specific in-house protocols for ECU communication, including General Motors Standardized Utility Modules (SUM), BMW BAC, and Volvo Diagnostics modules.
