Using the digital twin to engineer the future of flight

Aircraft electrification

One way of meeting emission regulations is to look to electric and hybrid propulsion systems. But aircraft electrification creates challenges at both the system and subsystem levels. At the subsystem level, electric machines and power electronics drives are expected to have ultra-high power densities, which requires significant innovations in material, devices, machine structure, and thermal management. The high-power electrical propulsion systems are causing electromagnetic disturbances, resulting in a significant increase in electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) related issues. To guarantee a safe flight, these issues need to be understood and mitigated.

In this webinar, our experts will demonstrate the use of the Simcenter portfolio for optimizing an aircraft e-propulsion system at both the system and subsystem levels.

To help you solve aircraft electrification challenges, our experts will explain how to:

  • Benefit from an integrated Simcenter approach for designing electric propulsion systems
  • Combine electromagnetic, thermal and system-level simulation, as well as software optimization to reduce prototype costs and design times
  • Take advantage of multi-physics and multi-disciplinary analysis at various design stages
  • Address EMI/EMC concerns as part of an overall aircraft system level simulation
  • Optimize wire harnesses through EMI/EMC analyses
