PLANO, Texas and LONDON – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced the latest release of Teamcenter™ for MRO, the set of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) capabilities within the UGS Teamcenter™ solution, the world’s most widely used PLM software portfolio.
UGS made the announcement today in conjunction with the European PLM Summit 2006 in London.
With several customer-driven enhancements and a new Materials Management module, Teamcenter for MRO extends its ability to significantly reduce the maintenance cycle time and costs associated with servicing complex commercial and military products that require a major capital investment, such as aircraft, weapon systems, ships and power plants.

Enhancements create customer value
Companies maintaining high value assets can benefit from Teamcenter for MRO’s ability to provide accurate information from a single high integrity source that is tied to the proper product configuration.

Teamcenter for MRO provides the capabilities required to establish a truly integrated environment for service operations. Capabilities include workflow, collaboration, complex document management, change control, work definition and management, advanced configuration management, records retention management as well as role based and full International Traffic in Arms Regulation (ITAR) security support for multi-national operations.
Today’s announcement extends the capabilities in many of these areas and adds a new functional module for Materials Management. The Materials Management module allows organizations to control their capital investment made in inventory, spares, tools and equipment from the request/requirement phase through to order, receipt, repair, issue and disposal. It provides the user with information to optimize the utilization of inventory as well as manage the performance and bids from their vendors.

“Expansion of our existing Teamcenter implementation with MRO solutions is a perfect fit to our business,” said Jim Wall - Director of Engine Engineering from Hendrick Motorsports. “We re-manufacture over 700 race engines each year and 23 other critical assemblies. To win races you have to put 100 percent accurate race configurations on the track. We need to have test and performance data accessible anywhere. We also need to track lifecycle usage on critical serialized assemblies and implement changes across the fleet within three days between race events. We rely on Teamcenter with MRO capabilities to manage these key processes. By doing so, we believe we improve race performance, reliability and durability - key elements to winning races.”
