Innovación y gestión de programas colaborativa y sincronizada para nuevos programas
FOR RELEASE Monday, July 31, 2006
PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that TDCI, a leading enterprise solution provider headquartered in Columbus, Ohio, has licensed and integrated the D-Cubed 2D Dimensional Constraint Manager (DCM) – part of UGS’ PLM Components family of solutions – into the latest release of its BuyDesign® product configuration and sales automation software suite. This marks the first use of UGS PLM Components technology in a sales configuration application.
“Integrating the 2D DCM into the BuyDesign application is another example of how UGS is continuing to expand its market through our open and innovative business model,” said Bruce Feldt, vice president of Open Tools at UGS. “This first time use of our open modular technology in sales configuration software is further validation that UGS’ PLM Components can be cost effectively used to add specific new capabilities to a broad set of applications.”
Licensed to TDCI under UGS’ open business model, the D-Cubed 2D DCM is the world’s most popular 2D geometric constraint solver enabling TDCI to rapidly develop capabilities that allow BuyDesign customers to create product families that can easily be reconfigured to represent a huge number of variations, all of which are conveniently accessible to sales professionals via web based or stand-alone applications.
“We interface directly with full 2D and 3D CAD products for certain capabilities within BuyDesign, but we didn’t want that overhead in the front-end sales process where people would be configuring products over the web or on standard desktop or laptop PCs,” said Dan DeMuth, President and COO of TDCI. “The D-Cubed 2D DCM gives us the ability to dynamically create configuration-specific 2D images without the cost or processing overhead of a full CAD system.”
UGS’ PLM Components are open software tools designed to promote industry standardization and interoperability within the product lifecycle management (PLM) market. Many of the world’s leading CAD/CAM/CAE/PLM vendors have adopted the widely respected solutions from PLM Components for integration into their applications. D Cubed software is part of the PLM Components suite of solutions and represents a family of geometric software components that enable key functionality in CAD, CAM, CAE, and PLM applications, including sketching, part and assembly modeling, motion simulation, collision detection, clearance measurement and hidden-line visualization. D-Cubed also provides consultancy based software integration services in support of the PLM Open vision. For more information, please visit www.ugs.com/products/open/.
