Our Optimization Services include pre-engineered solution, technical, and process optimization services, helping our customers continuously enhance and expand the functionality of deployed systems.
Services designed to support system architecture topics during implementation, deployment, and maintenance of Siemens software solutions. These services are branded as Advanced Technical Services (ATS).
Services designed to optimize software solutions during implementation and deployment. Architect and design the software solution to realize maximum value.
Optimize the process of implementation, deployment, and maintenance of Siemens software solutions.
Advanced Technical Services (ATS) is a set of packaged technical services offerings designed to support system architecture topics during the implementation and deployment of Siemens applications. Executed by global Siemens system architects, Advanced Technical Services focuses on the deployment architecture, infrastructure, performance and security areas. Whether you run the implementation yourself, by system integrators, or by Siemens Professional Services, ATS delivery has a faster time-to-value and offers product best practices via consistent and repeatable delivery processes.
Our Advanced Technical Services teams have extensive experience with customer deployments worldwide and across industry segments. Following systematic field-tested and lab-tested methodologies, our teams assist customers in the areas of deployment architecture and infrastructure design, production health check, system configuration and tuning, performance analysis, performance baseline, and performance testing. System architects work with on-field customer situations and interact with product development teams as necessary for a closed-loop support system.
All services are available for deployments with on-premise physical and virtual servers, as well as AWS/Azure Cloud deployments.
We provide a systematic process that gathers requirements, reviews deployment options, and defines architecture and infrastructure for the Siemens software system deployment to meet customer goals.
Deployment Architecture and Infrastructure Design (DAID) becomes critical and essential for the success of the project with the high complexity of modern IT architecture and infrastructure in key domain areas, such as the deployment options and the sizing of servers, selection of multiple sites versus centralization deployment, high availability design, backup/recovery strategy, file management architecture for regional and global deployments, upgrade compatibility, consideration of scalability and performance requirements, network environment, and in some cases even Virtual Machines platform deployment, public/private cloud deployments, etc.
Security Design and Review (SDR) provides a systematic process to identify the requirements, discuss available Siemens software security functions and features, and align appropriate solutions to the security requirements for planning secure system implementation. SDR also evaluates the security requirement impact on Siemens software deployment architecture and infrastructure design and makes appropriate recommendations for improvement.
Security Design and Review consists of authentication (user login/passwords, security services, client communication services, LDAP, single sign-on, and multi-factor authentication), authorization (best practices, access control, corporate and regulatory compliance), audit (Audit Manager capabilities, and application login), and asset protection (server architecture, client configuration, network security, proxy servers, files management architecture, database security, and file security).
Performance is one of the most critical factors by which end users measure a Siemens software implementation. Establishing a Performance Baseline (PBL) is often overlooked. Performance Baseline helps customers produce a complete and detailed baseline against which all adjustments, tuning, and upgrades can be measured. Baseline results can also be measured against similar Siemens software implementations to determine if further analysis and tuning are needed.
Performance risks can mainly be managed and reduced by taking a proactive approach. Application Configuration and Tuning (ACT) provides an experienced Siemens system architect to advise and guide the system configuration and tuning of the targeted Siemens software system environment. ACT should be engaged before end-users begin to test or use the application.
Application Configuration and Tuning delivers a final document that summarizes assumptions, configuration changes, and parameters tuning that are recommended and/or changed. Through discussion with the system architect, customer-specific situations and requirements, system configuration, and parameters recommendations can be thoroughly prepared for target deployment.
Automated multi-user testing (AMT) executes a standard, automated multi-user test that can be used to verify that deployment infrastructure is functionally operating as designed. AMT allows standard assemblies to be imported into a customer’s environment and enables our experts to run standard, automated use-cases to confirm infrastructure availability. AMT can also be run with a customer’s own assemblies. AMT can be performed on new and existing Siemens software environments. Customers can expand the test as needed after post-Siemens engagement.
Managing a stable production deployment of Siemens software that is available, reliable, and responsive requires continuous performance metrics from infrastructure and application components. System Performance Monitoring (SPM) provides you with a Siemens software expert to guide the implementation of a cost-effective system monitoring solution to automate the collection of metrics from servers, clients, and applications.
Our solution uses Nagios XI, a popular application monitoring software that supports the use of Java Management Extensions (JMX) technology, to collect available performance metrics from Siemens software application tiers using Siemens-provided plugins, and presents results in graphical form. Application-level metrics, together with representative client performance-level metrics, provide a continuous snapshot of software application health and behavior, enabling administrators to stay ahead of any issue in addition to reporting overall system health.
Production Health Check (PHC) is an assessment of an existing deployment over the course of 3-6 months. It is performed by a Siemens system architect working cooperatively with the customer and/or system implementer. PHCs focus on the alignment of a customer's deployment with Siemens-recommended infrastructure deployment practices to discover system health status and to prepare for improving performance, scalability, and reliability goals.
Current production system status is examined in coordination with the customer's system administrators to discover any existing/potential system and technical issues and make recommendations across the following areas: deployment architecture; IT deployment components (i.e. sizing, performance, stability, reliability, and availability); application software configurations; and monitoring processes.
Performance is one of the most critical factors by which end users measure Siemens software implementation. Performance issues can be triggered by a number of factors within the infrastructure or Siemens software configuration files. System Performance Analysis (SPA) helps customers to produce a complete, detailed technical review and recommendation report that are used for identification of issues, improvement planning, and execution.
SPA adopts a systematic methodology conducted by Siemens system architects to diagnose the software application system using various tools leveraging experience, identifying system- and configuration-level issues, and providing both corrective and preventive measures.
