Solving the E/E dilemma of electric and autonomous vehicles

As automotive manufacturers and suppliers develop advanced technologies to realize the trends of autonomy, connectivity, electrification, and shared mobility, they are encountering a number of dilemmas. For example, automated driving systems require immense computing power and large arrays of sensors, all of which drain the power available to power electric motors. The source of these dilemmas is the common reliance on the vehicle electrical and electronic systems to consume power, gather and process data, and communicate with other vehicle systems.

This paper will focus on the E/E design challenges created by electric and autonomous vehicles. It will go on to describe a multi-domain architecture-based E/E engineering approach that leverages automation and virtual verification to solve these challenges.
