NOVI SAD, Serbia and PLANO, Texas, January 23, 2006 – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that it is providing more than 70 seats of UGS’ NX™ software and more than 100 seats of UGS Solid Edge™ software for the Technical Science Department at the University of Novi Sad, Serbia. The in-kind grant has a market value of more than € 23 million.
“This is a significant step for the University of Novi Sad’s technical education,” said Professor Ilija Cosic, dean, Department of Technical Science for the University in Novi Sad. “Our intent is to prepare a student workshop in which students will continuously learn the latest engineering and design technology.
UGS has also supplied its Teamcenter™ software, UGS’ digital lifecycle management solution and the world’s most widely used PLM portfolio, to the university.
“UGS is proud to partner with the University of Novi Sad in developing students with next generation PLM skills,” said Mike Robinson, director, Northern and Eastern Europe for UGS. “This partnership will also provide industrial development opportunities for regional manufacturers, a major consideration in rebuilding and extending the percentage of Serbia’s gross domestic product from industrial output.”
