LONDON – UGS Corp., the world’s leading provider of software and services for product lifecycle management (PLM), today announced effective immediately, Martien Merks, country manager for Benelux, will now serve as managing director of UGS operations in Germany upon retirement of Georg Wessels. Wessels held the post for 12 years and will retire by the end of the year.
Merks has served as country manager of the UGS Benelux operation for five years. His previous experience includes work in product development at Philips Electronics and at Capgemini where he was responsible for consulting activities in the product development division. Merks earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Eindhoven University.
Wessels has worked in the field of CAD/CAM since 1973 and has been with UGS since 1987. Under his leadership, UGS’ German operation experienced solid growth. Wessels’ previous work experience included CAD pioneers like GE-Calma and Aristo.
