PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp., a leading provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) products and services, today announced KB Racing -- whose cars are developed with the help of UGS® digital product development technology -- won the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Pro Stock Championship for the fourth straight year. KB Racing driver Jason Line clinched the season championship for the team this past weekend at the sixth annual ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals. Teammate Greg Anderson, the three-time NHRA Pro Stock world champion and the 2005 Speed Channel Driver of the Year, won the previous three years.
Line, the 2004 NHRA Rookie of The Year, is the current NHRA Pro Stock national record holder for low elapsed time (6.558 seconds) and top speed (209.75 MPH) set at the Torco Racing Fuels NHRA Nationals in October. Line, on his way to clinching the championship, also set a new track record at the ACDelco Las Vegas NHRA Nationals of low elapsed time (6.705 seconds) and top speed (204.94 MPH).
KB Racing is one of the most successful teams in professional motor sports. After winning the 2003 championship with Anderson as the team driver, KB Racing added a second car with Jason Line in the driver seat for the 2004 season. The team continued their success with Anderson wining the 2004 championship and Line taking second place and being named 2004 NHRA Rookie of The Year. In 2005, Anderson joined an elite group of drivers with a third straight Pro Stock title and Line took third place. The team’s success continues in 2006 as Line wins the championship and Anderson is firmly positioned in second place with one race remaining in the season.
KB Racing uses UGS’ NX® digital product development software to design, analyze and manufacture new engine components. The team actively trades data back and forth with its engine shop and uses new data to refine existing designs.
“Winning a championship requires each and every member of the team, including partners like UGS, to work together to push the limits of their craft,” said Ken Black, owner KB Racing. “Winning four years in a row is a testament to the quality and skills of the people and technology that are a part of our racing team. UGS has shown that they are here to win and to do whatever it takes to help the team to succeed. We are thrilled to have UGS as a partner in this victory and we intend to continue to develop our relationship with UGS.”
“Winning the NHRA Pro Stock championship is huge and keeping the championship with KB Racing makes it even sweeter,” said Line. “Winning four in a row requires perseverance and teamwork, and UGS is an important member of our winning team.”
“UGS congratulates Jason Line and KB Racing for another memorable season and a fourth consecutive championship,” said Dave Shirk, executive vice president of Global Marketing for UGS. “Winning consecutive titles requires focus and commitment, qualities which are common to both KB Racing and UGS. UGS’ mantra is to never let a customer fail and we strive to help every UGS technology user drive into victory lane, on the track or in the board room.”
