Innovationen und bereichsübergreifendes, synchronisiertes Programmmanagement
Chuvashtorgtekhnika is a leader in the professional food processing equipment market in Russia and CIS countries. The company has more than 50 years of experience in food processing equipment manufacturing and maintenance.
For the last 60 years, Chuvashtorgtekhnika has successfully operated in the food processing equipment market and is a market leader in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Since 1999, the company has developed and manufactured advanced food service equipment for the catering industry. Its products include combination steam-convection ovens (combi steamers), cooking lines, ovens, ventilation hoods, boilers, self-service systems, refrigeration equipment and related items, under the brand name Abat. With product line expansion and increased production output, the company is currently expanding its production facility, and employs more than 1,000 people.
The company has extensive experience in serving the catering industry. It builds superior products with high-quality components and metalworking machinery from the leading global manufacturers. The company’s portfolio has been expanding to meet changing market demands, and its quality management system is continuously refined to follow domestic and international standards and best practices. Quality is the company’s top priority.
Chuvashtorgtekhnika has delivered more than 30,000 combi steamers that compete directly with those of western manufacturers, and has become a major player in the global market for advanced food processing solutions.
A major key to success is the company’s decision to switch to 3D modeling for product design. Chuvashtorgtekhnika selected Solid Edge® software from Siemens PLM Software as its computeraided design and engineering tool. The company had previously designed new products using only drawing boards. As workloads increased, the paper-based approach proved to be inefficient. The company’s top management realized the inconveniences and the need for product development process upgrades and decided to deploy advanced technologies.
The first Solid Edge license was purchased in July, 2000. The system was chosen for its extensive functionality, which helps produce 3D models and drawings very quickly and enables changes at any stage. The design and drafting capabilities of Solid Edge also support the local Unified System for Design Documentation (GOST) standards, and the software is unquestionably cost-efficient.
Fort Dialog, a Siemens PLM Software solution partner, provided consulting for the company personnel and comprehensive system deployment, commissioning, and maintenance services. “It is exactly what we need now,” remarked Nail Khayrutdinov, general director of Chuvashtorgtekhnika, after the new solution’s presentation.
Chuvashtorgtekhnika’s experts make extensive use of the leading-edge sheet metal part design functionality of Solid Edge, since the company’s products are mostly made from one-millimeter thick stainless steel sheets. The use of Solid Edge has significantly reduced production planning time through automated generation of complex sheet metal parts and subsequent release to the shop floor. Engineers leverage the synchronous technology of Solid Edge for greater flexibility in modeling and modifying sheet metal parts, enabling them to focus on the design intent. Since the implementation of Solid Edge, the company has also used the software to route and design piping and electrical wiring in product models; the routed systems and components are dynamically associated with other assembly components. “Solid Edge not only helps with routine design tasks; it also leaves room for creativity,” says Alexey Kirillov, assistant chief designer.
Following the company’s directives to introduce advanced manufacturing technology, in 2011 Chuvashtorgtekhnika purchased a modern numerical control (NC) turning and milling machine. The company needed to develop NC programs for manufacturing parts designed with Solid Edge, and to send the programs to the machine tool. Fort Dialog proposed to implement CAM Express software, an efficient NC programming solution that is integrated with Solid Edge so that there is no need for data conversion. CAM Express simplifies NC code development for multiaxis machine tools and reduces production planning time for both tooling and serial products.
Chuvashtorgtekhnika’s experts value the flat learning curves of Solid Edge and CAM Express, which enable them to quickly build proficiency and skill with the software. They also note that product development and process planning time has been significantly reduced through automation, and design efficiency has been improved.
The use of Solid Edge and CAM Express has helped Chuvashtorgtekhnika to take its production to a higher level. The company’s productivity has dramatically improved, and production output has increased tenfold. The company anticipates further success from its partnership with Siemens PLM Software.
