3D Engineering Automation LLP (3D Engineering) is an Indian digitalization solutions provider based in the state of Maharashtra. With over 20 years of experience, 3D Engineering supports customers in the automotive and transportation and industrial machinery industries.

3D Engineering started selling Solid Edge® software in 1999. Solid Edge is part of the Siemens Xcelerator business platform of software, hardware and services. As an early adopter of 3D computer-aided design (CAD), the company became a leading advocate for Indian manufacturers to move from 2D to 3D during the rapid industrial evolution in the country.

3D Engineering has expanded its range of software and achieved the Siemens Digital Industries Software Expert Partner specializations in NX™ software for design and manufacturing and the Tecnomatix® portfolio. Siemens recognizes partners that demonstrate advanced expertise and competency in a Siemens solution or industry. These partners are validated by customers and Siemens for demonstrating their superior business and technical acumen.

Ajay Deshkar, designated partner of 3D Engineering, states, “The Siemens Expert Partner status gave 3D Engineering an edge over its competitors, which built its confidence among potential customers even before actual engagement.”

Customers expect strong return-on-investment (ROI) and robust after-sales service from solution providers. Accordingly, 3D Engineering adopted a consultative approach to help customers identify inefficiencies in their businesses. Using its new customer relationship management tool, 3D engineering’s technical teams make sure all submitted support tickets are resolved in 24 hours. 3D Engineering is one of the few companies of its size to offer this structured approach to customer support. Customers can receive help whenever they need it. 3D Engineering also uses the information it garners from the tool to identify trends and create new solutions to improve its support knowledge base.

Using Solid Edge to shorten product development cycles

One of 3D Engineering’s longstanding customers is a pharmaceutical machinery manufacturer. It builds encapsulation, tablet packaging and drug mixing machinery and requires a flexible digital solution to maximize its design and manufacturing efficiencies. The company previously used CAD solutions from alternative vendors before moving to Solid Edge after 3D Engineering demonstrated the power of 3D CAD. 3D Engineering enabled the customer to identify how the software could address key challenges while providing insight into how to use Solid Edge features in the design process, including electrical wire integration and visualizing how subassemblies move together inside the entire design.

The customer had also lacked an efficient process for sharing new product data between departments. 3D Engineering demonstrated how the data produced by Solid Edge can be seamlessly integrated into Teamcenter® software and can be effortlessly shared across departments. By using Solid Edge and Teamcenter, the customer shortened its new product development cycles by over 25 percent and reduced the rate of incorrect drawings on the shop floor by over 50 percent.

NX, Tecnomatix and Teamcenter are also part of the Siemens Xcelerator business platform.

NX helps increase workflow productivity by 50 percent

Another customer also turned to 3D Engineering to overcome the bottlenecks caused by ineffective collaboration across its development teams. 3D Engineering analyzed the customer’s production processes and advised that an NX implementation would be the optimal solution. Using NX throughout development helped the company produce common data sets and streamline data transfer and process documentation between teams. 3D Engineering provided the customer with extensive NX training including guidance on 5-axis machining. Using NX enabled the customer to export data into setup sheets, automate the data upload process and increase productivity by 50 percent across the entire workflow.

3D Engineering continues to explore new initiatives to support its customers’ digital transformations. It regularly promotes cross-product collaboration and is pursuing specializations in additional Siemens solutions.

“Our 22-year long association with Siemens has been a mainstay of our business. We look forward to new opportunities to build on the strong foundation we have with Siemens,” Deshkar concludes.
