PLANO, Texas, August 7, 2012 - Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that Aerospace Industrial Development Corporation (AIDC), a premier supplier to the world’s leading aircraft manufacturers, has purchased the latest version of the Fibersim™ portfolio of software for composites engineering. AIDC will be able to seamlessly transfer customers’ computer-aided design (CAD) files into Fibersim to drive manufacturing processes as well as to develop flat patterns and laser data files.
AIDC supports Taiwan’s national defense industry and is that country’s foremost supplier to the world’s premier aerospace companies, such as Boeing, Bombardier, General Electric and Airbus. It is experienced in the use of leading edge technologies, materials and manufacturing processes in the development of today’s most advanced aircraft programs. For more than a decade AIDC has depended on the use of Fibersim to engineer composite parts and now, motivated by the need to keep pace with an anticipated increase in workload for current and future aircraft programs, AIDC resolved that Fibersim 2012 would be the most effective solution to develop skin panels, frames, doors and stringers.
