Innovation and collaborative, synchronized program management for new programs
PLANO, Texas and PARIS, June 2, 2008 – Siemens PLM Software, a business unit of the Siemens Industry Automation Division and a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, announced that Alstom Transport, a global leader in rail infrastructures, selected Teamcenter® software, the world’s most widely used PLM portfolio, as its unified PLM platform.
Alstom Transport group, representing 26,000 people in 32 research and development centers at production sites in 60 countries, will deploy Teamcenter throughout its enterprise over the next three years. Alstom Transport made the decision to select Siemens PLM Software following an extensive evaluation process conducted at its headquarters in France.
Alstom Transport faces an increasing number of global customer projects and in order to more effectively and efficiently support its customers, the company selected Teamcenter to enhance collaboration, improve productivity and reduce costs. Teamcenter enables Alstom to improve information exchanges and streamline process management across the company. Teamcenter’s common PLM platform will serve as a backbone for Alstom Transport’s wide range of legacy systems. Each person involved in the product lifecycle process will have access to a single source of information for products, processes and industrialization.
"Our customers are increasingly handing over entire projects, which means that all of our departments must be involved at the same time," said Guillaume Vendroux, vice president of Engineering at Alstom Transport. "The modular approach was no longer suitable. We have therefore decided to upgrade our strategy to implement large-scale resource sharing with the emphasis on exchanges and collaborative work at the group level. We are convinced that only a global PLM approach, supported by Siemens PLM Software’s Teamcenter technology, will enable us to help our customers succeed."
"As part of the evaluation process, we approached existing Siemens PLM Software customers for feedback and the positive response received sealed our choice," said Bertrand Petit, IT director at Alstom Transport. "The commitment displayed by the teams at Siemens PLM Software convinced us beyond any doubt that they were the best partner for us."
“The selection of Teamcenter as the corporate-wide PLM solution by a company like Alstom Transport is testament to Siemens PLM Software’s ability to develop best-in-class PLM technology,” said Pascal Zehren, vice president and managing director, Siemens PLM Software, France. "Our customers' global PLM projects are real driving forces for improving collaborative work and ramping up innovation."
