PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced that for the third year in a row, leading PLM industry analyst firm CIMdata, Inc. has recognized UGS as the leading provider of collaborative Product Definition management (cPDm) software for the High Tech and Electronics (HTE) industry.

The ranking, based on 2005 revenues generated by software and related sales to companies in the HTE industry, is included in CIMdata’s PLM Market Analysis 2006 Report, Module 2.  This annual report provides an in-depth look at the cPDm portion of the PLM market by geographic regions and industry segmentation.
“High Tech and Electronics companies have been major adopters of cPDm technology and methods,” said Ken Amann, CIMdata’s director of research. “For the past few years, UGS has been the revenue leader in supplying cPDm solutions to this growing industry.”

UGS® software is widely used globally at the leading HTE companies, including the top semiconductor and mobile phone manufacturers, four of the top five consumer electronics original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), three of the top five semiconductor equipment manufacturers, and eight of the top 10 contract manufacturers.  In the first half of 2006 alone, the company signed more than 30 contracts with leading global companies in the HTE industry.
