UGS Launches Teamcenter Content Management Solution, Extending Value of PLM with Integrated Product and Support Documentation

PLANO, Texas– UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced a new content management solution for Teamcenter® software, the world’s most widely used PLM portfolio, that extends the company’s suite of PLM offerings. The new dynamic publishing solution is integral to the overall PLM process, enabling companies to automate the assembly and publishing of product or service information in multiple languages and formats.

The new offering announced today builds on Teamcenter’s state-of-the-art data management and collaboration technology to deliver a content management solution that treatsproduct-related documentation as an intrinsic part of the product itself.  The result is a proven solution that eliminates the manual, repetitive, error-prone steps typically associated with the development of technical publications. Using Teamcenter’s content management solution, companies can develop richer, more interactive and accurate documentation that is synchronized with the underlying product data and is generated in significantly less time. The new offering also makes it easy to localize documents with multiple language support, reconfigure to reflect product variants, or adapt to match a customized product.

“With content management software, we have increased the number of technical publications we produce by a factor of four,” saidMorten Skakke, Manager of Technical Literature and e-Business, Danfoss Drives. “We have been able to do so without a corresponding increase in the number of technical authors required. Multi-language support has also allowed us to increase our localizations per manual from seven to 27 languages.  

“Now that Teamcenter has integrated content management within its latest technology, we are enjoying greater cost reductions and improved performance from this system. In addition, we have improved collaboration due to Teamcenter’s support for global authoring teams, Web portal publishing and better integration with our translation office.”
