Innovation and collaborative, synchronized program management for new programs
PLANO, Texas – UGS Corp., a leading global provider of product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services, today announced its Teamcenter® software portfolio surpassed the three million license mark near the end of 2006. Teamcenter is the first software solution of its kind to achieve this level of market acceptance which UGS credits to its high rate of customer satisfaction and retention, along with Teamcenter’s unique ability to effectively scale from a small departmental solution to an enterprise-wide, global implementation.
Teamcenter has been the PLM industry’s most widely used solution for several years and consists of an integrated suite of applications that provide a wide variety of productivity enhancing technologies such as 3D visualization, collaboration, supplier management and collaborative product data management (cPDM) – one of the fastest growing segments in the PLM industry.
“UGS’ announcement marks a significant milestone for UGS and the PLM industry in general,” said Ed Miller, president, CIMdata. “Investments in PLM have increased substantially over the past several years as PLM has become recognized as a critical enterprise initiative. The success of the industry’s leading and visible PLM-enabling offerings, such as Teamcenter, is a market indicator that reinforces the growing industry confidence in PLM and reflects the increasing demand for PLM solutions. We congratulate UGS on their achievement.”
Another successful year
After being recognized as the winner of IndustryWeek magazine’s Technology of the Year Award for 2005, UGS and Teamcenter enjoyed another successful year in 2006. In addition to achieving the three million license plateau, Teamcenter was awarded several major customer contracts in 2006 including expanded deployments at Lockheed Martin for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Program and Ford Motor Company for 57 worldwide vehicle programs. Teamcenter was also selected as the enterprise data management system at Boeing, and the Teamcenter Express solution for small to medium size businesses (SMB) has now been deployed in 26 countries since its introduction just over one year ago.
In addition, Teamcenter received Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine’s 2006 Technology Innovation Award, while CIMdata recognized UGS as a PLM leader and number one in cPDM market presence. Finally, industry analyst firm Gartner placed UGS in the leaders quadrant of its PLM Magic Quadrant.
“By listening to our customers and delivering solutions that meet the needs of the widest variety of organizations, UGS has been able to sustain its market leadership through a very high level of customer satisfaction and retention,” said Dave Shirk, executive vice president of Global Marketing, UGS. “From SMBs to large multinational corporations, Teamcenter continues to set the standard for the PLM industry.”
