Caterpillar Awards EDS Two Contracts for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Software and Services

PLANO, Texas, April 8, 2002 - EDS today announced two contracts for product lifecycle management (PLM) software and services with Caterpillar Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines and industrial gas turbines. Terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Under the first contract, which the two companies signed in the first quarter of 2002, EDS PLM Solutions will implement its Teamcenter™ Visualization software and services to enable collaborative product development globally across three divisions of Caterpillar: Building & Construction Products, Mossville Engine Center and Cat Electronics. Suppliers, plant-floor employees, engineers and others throughout the manufacturing process will use the software.

Under the second contract, signed in the fourth quarter of 2001, EDS PLM Solutions deploys Unigraphics® CAD/CAM/CAE software and services to Caterpillar's Fuel Systems Division.
