Annual IDC Survey Ranks EDS Number One In Application Management

PLANO, Texas -- EDS keeps the Global 2000 operating smoothly by providing more o ngoing development, support and maintenance of software than any other IT servic e provider in the world, according to the results of a recently released study b y industry analyst firm International Data Corp. (IDC). IDC defines application management as "the ongoing support of an application or system of applications." The applications can be custom-built for a client, pac kaged third-party products, or a combination of both. In its annual look at applications management, the firm estimates the overall ma rket for the practice area at $11.1 billion, with EDS generating approximately $ 2 billion of this revenue, or 18 percent. In estimating revenue by firm, IDC us ed in-depth surveys and analysis, combined with data collected throughout the ye ar about each vendor and its customers. “Applications management has been a core competency at EDS for decades,&#14 8; said Dan Zadorozny, president of EDS’ Application Management service line.
