PLANO, Texas -- EDS today announced Xylatec Group, a global leader in the manufa cture of woodworking tools, has selected EDS product lifecycle management (PLM) software as its corporate standard. Xylatec Group joins the growing list of companies choosing EDS PLM software as t heir corporate standard. Most recently, EDS announced on February 11 WINDMÖ ;LLER & HÖLSCHER, the worlds leading provider for flexible packaging machinery and equipment, chose EDS PLM software as its corporate standard. Xylatecs decision followed a detailed benchmark between major competitive systems and a financial evaluation conducted by the independent Swiss consulting firm XMC (Xperteam Management Consulting). EDS is proud to welcome Xylatec to the growing list of companies standardi zing on our PLM software and services solutions, said Jim Duncan, presiden t of Europe, EDS PLM Solutions. Companies like Xylatec are discovering the business benefits of selecting a PLM vendor, not only for its industry-leading technology, but also for its ability to service and support that technology on a global basis and from a single source.
Unigraphics and Teamcenter
Xylatec will deploy EDS Unigraphics® NX computer-aided design, manufac turing and engineering analysis (CAD/CAM/CAE) software and its Teamcenter PLM software solution to unify product development, manufacturing and product da ta management. The implementation will take place at three Xylatec sites -- Horb and Memmingen, Germany, and Beinheim, France -- and will replace several legacy software syste ms. Xylatec selected EDS as its single source supplier of PLM solutions based on several technical and economic considerations, said Peter Kleinmann, ma naging director of Xylatec. We were impressed with the functional superio rity of EDS products and services and with its global presence and world-class s upport. In addition, having a singlebusiness contact for all of our PLM requirements enables Xylatec to operate more efficiently, and the automation afforded us by EDS software should create a rap id ROI for our company. Additional considerations Xylatec cited for its decision to standardize on EDS&# 146; PLM solutions include:
- EDS ability to integrate Xylatecs distributed locations, enablin g engineers to collaborate more efficiently.
- The ability to significantly reduce development and production time by using highly automated features of Unigraphics NX to quickly and easily create thousa nds of variant designs required for Xylatecs tools.
The software and services contract was finalized in the fourth quarter of 2002 a nd was included in the total for fourth quarter business signings announced alon g with the EDS annual results on February 6.
